  • People Noise

The past week was a week full of people noise.

My family stayed with me for the whole week and we were out almost every day. They arrived Sunday night and the next morning we all headed out to Murray Family Farm to pick fruit. We picked a lot of fruit: blueberries, donut peaches, plums, figs, nectarines, blackberries, etc. All fresh and natural and beautiful.

Afterwards we headed towards La Palma/LA to visit my auntie and other family. We did that again on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was my oldest auntie's 60th birthday and renewal of vows with oka-san. It was fun seeing all of our family from dad's side again.

    (Kyla & Colin)

We went shopping around Koreatown and shopping around Bakersfield. We went swimming. We went to Dewars and saw a cute tall guy named Tracey (who interested Boramon and SJ unnie). My family spoiled Aji rotten and she is a bad, bad, misbehaving dog who just chewed up the blinds in my room the other night while we were at church. But she was loved and I know she was missing them (she was whining at the door when they left) and I know they will miss her and her bangjung. <3 We played godori and I had some wins and some losses, good wine and good sake. We discovered we could watch videos on my television through my computer so we stayed up watching Korean shows until they had to leave. We had coffee bingsoo and lots and lots of rice. I thought I gained several lbs, but thankfully, I didn't. :D But that's how much delicious food we ate. We went to the beach and had awesome sashimi and other seafood! Tare & I were able to treat our whole family to an awesome BBQ dinner at Famous Dave's and I feel great about that. We have LOTS of food in our fridge and it is all due to my wonderful cooking halmoni (and maybe my mom).
I'm a little sad that I don't quite remember everything when they left at 3am. I stayed up til 2 and fell asleep arg. It's a blur and I'm sad. It feels really empty without all of the blankets out and bags everywhere.

On a random note, seeing my cousin's new baby son and how much our whole family loved him makes me want to have a baby (although most of my cousins (even one with the babies) discourages this thought). Also, seeing how much my family loved Aji, I can tell my future baby would be so so loved and taken care of by them. & I would love to have a little me and little Tare running around. Sigh... but the wait will continue.

I've been attending the same church for 3 weeks now. We went to The Stream, their young adult group meeting, for the first time last night and it was pretty good. I think we will continue to go here, although we haven't gone anywhere else, because the sermon every week speaks to me (& Tare) and I know it's God, I know it's the Holy Spirit and it's very encouraging and also challenging. Maybe we will take a week to head somewhere else to be sure, but for the most part I think we've found our church.

I thank God for all these wonderful new memories, His protection over us as we drove back and forth long distances every day, and His provisions for us that allowed us to have this time together and do all of these things.
